The Song of Idyllic Countryside in Guilin

The city of Guilin boasts a leisurely pace of life and showcases the most exquisite rural idyllic scenery in southern China. Guilin is a great place to slow down and allow yourself a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

This five-day journey, which includes a cruise on the Li River, a visit to Yulong River in Yangshuo and Longji Terrace Fields in Longsheng, will give you a chance to experience the unique rural scenery of southern China with peace and leisure.

Take a leisurely stroll through the Man-made Terrace

In the mountain village, the morning breeze is refreshing. Walking up along the path, the view gradually becomes more expansive. Leaving the path, just wander along a field embankment at random, sit in the scenery, and watch the spectacular terrace landscape created by Chinese peasants through their diligence and wisdom in China's millennial agricultural civilization.

Cycling through the countryside of Yangshuo at your leisure

On a boat cruise along the Li River, we admired the karst landform from a distance. In the countryside of Yangshuo, we got up close and personal with the scenery. Karst peaks, rice paddies, clear streams, and wisps of smoke made up a pastoral watercolor painting.

Relax on a bamboo raft on the calm Yulong River

Bamboo rafts are traditional water transportation tools made of bamboo in ancient China. Slowly drifting on the tranquil Yulong River while admiring the green mountains reflected in the water, watching the bamboo forests and birds flying by, it truly feels like "traveling in a painting".

Make bamboo-tube rice with a local family

Longsheng is one of places where serve as a settlement for the Yao people, who is one of the 56 recognized ethnic groups in China, Bamboo rice is one aspect of an ancient and traditional way of their life.

Your guide will accompany you to visit a local Yao family and learn how to make bamboo-tube rice as well as cook it the local way.

Itinerary Overview

Day 1   Guilin Arrival, Guilin to LongSheng.

After you arrive in Guilin, your tour guide and private car will meet you and take you directly to Longsheng. The total driving time from Guilin Liangjiang International Airport or Guilin city center to your accommodation in Longsheng is about 3 hours. Therefore, it is best to arrive in Guilin before 5 PM.

Day 2  Longsheng to Guilin, Take a leisurely walk through Longji Terraces and experience making bamboo-tube rice.

Construction of the rice terraces began about 600 years ago and now the ethnic minorities who live in Longsheng are still very dependent on this massive farming project.
You can walk or take a cable car to the top of the terraces, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountain shape outlined by the terraced fields, the different colors of rice plants in different seasons, and the distant Yao village.
Then, after descending from the terraces, you can visit a Yao’s home, where the host will introduce you to their special bamboo tube rice and oil tea making. You can make bamboo tube rice with their guidance.In the afternoon later, your guide
and private vehicle will take you back to Guilin city and check into your hotel.

Day 3  Guilin, a historic town in Guilin suburb

It now appears that Daxu Town is quite small. Who could have imagined that, many years ago, this small town by the Li River was a bustling place? Time has passed like a river, polishing the cobblestones on the town's streets to a shine, and many people's stories, like the footsteps on the stone, have long disappeared without a trace.
Houses made of clay and wood lining the street have been preserved in good condition. In the ancient mansions of wealthy families, you can see traces of people's lifestyle in the past.
After lunch, visit the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin City, and then explore the most beautiful karst caves, Reed Flute Cave.
The rest of the time is at your disposal. Of course, your private guide will give you advice or useful information if you need.

Day 4  Guilin to YangShuo, Li River Cruise

This is a trip to experience the essence of Guilin's scenery. We will take a five-star cruise from the dock in Guilin City down the Li River to Yangshuo. The scenery along the way is worth any praise. The five-star cruise is the highest level and most luxurious Li River cruise available.
The unique karst geology has formed a variety of limestone peaks. The locals name the mountains based on their shapes, which is very interesting. You may need to use your imagination to understand the fun in that.
After arriving in Yangshuo, it will be the afternoon. Take a walk on the bustling West Street of Yangshuo, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the afternoon sunshine. Of course, dinner should be spent trying the local delicacy - Yangshuo Beer Fish.

Day 5  YangShuo, Cycling around the countryside, Relax on the Bamboo raft on the Calm Yulong River.

Don’t worry about the weather, it's a clear sky with no clouds or it rains, you will see different kinds of beautiful scenery. If it's a sunny day, it's recommended to start early in the morning and ride a bike in the gentle breeze is a very pleasant experience.
After lunch, go for a bamboo raft ride on the Yulong River.

Day 6  Yangshuo–Guilin, Departure

Say goodbye to Yangshuo and transfer to Guilin. Connect with your departure flight.
