Gyeongpodae Pavilion

The Gyeongpodae Pavilion was built in 1326 during the Goryeo Dynasty. It was a place where scholars and literati gathered to enjoy the lake and sea views, drink wine and compose poems. The pavilion was constructed in the traditional Korean architectural style and is exquisitely built. Inside the pavilion, there are inscriptions and poems by famous Korean figures from ancient times. Due to its long history and cultural significance, it has been designated as the 6th tangible cultural property of Gangwon Province by the South Korean government.

Today, the Gyeongpodae Pavilion area includes Gyeongpo Lake and the coast of the East Sea. There are several other pavilions nearby, surrounded by green trees, creating a serene and elegant environment. The pavilion offers a wide view and beautiful scenery, allowing visitors to enjoy the Gyeongpo Beach and Gyeongpo Lake. Here, one can appreciate the sunrise and the full moon over the sea. The 6-kilometer-long white sandy beach along the coast is a natural seawater bathing area and a summer resort.
