Bangju Church

Besides Tadao Ando, another architectural master, Itami Jun, also left his work on Jeju Island, Bangju Church.

The church is located in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island, at the southwestern foot of Mount Hallasan. Nearby are theme museums such as the World Automobile Jeju Museum, the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, and the Bontae Museum. The church's exterior resembles a Noah's Ark sailing on the sea, grand and unique, hence its name. Its roof is composed of three different metal materials, shining brightly under the sunlight; the combination of three-dimensional and spatial elements, visual and sensory effects, lines and layout, along with its dazzling appearance, makes it one of the most artistic and popular architectural works in the area.
