Byeongsan Seowon Confucian Academy

Byeongsan Seowon Confucian Academy is located in Andong City, Gyeongsang buk-do Province, and is very close to Hahoe Village. It was originally a private educational institution during the Joseon Dynasty, established by the renowned Confucian scholar and prime minister Yi Sunshin (1536-1584). The historic seowon and the over 3,000 volumes of literature it houses together form an important cultural heritage of South Korea.

Today, Byeongsan Seowon is open to tourists for free as a cultural tourist attraction. It is famous for its architectural style that harmonizes with nature. The Naktong River in front of it, the white sandy beach, the steep cliffs, along with the blooming flowers in spring and the red leaves in autumn, create a breathtaking landscape.
