Seongyojang House is a private estate built by a noble family in Gangneung City, Gangwon Province during the Joseon Dynasty. It has been inhabited by the owner Li Naifan (1703-1781) and his descendants, and the traditional architectural style has been well preserved for over 300 years. It was once selected as one of the top ten most beautiful traditional houses in South Korea by KBS TV station.
This historic complex is not only an outstanding representative of traditional Korean residences but also an important physical resource for studying the social life and architectural art of the Joseon Dynasty.
