Jagalchi Market, located by the seaside in Nampo-dong, is Busan's most famous seafood market and the largest aquatic products market in South Korea. With a history of over 50 years, it is a large indoor market that integrates seafood wholesale, retail and seafood restaurants. An interesting thing is that most of the fish sellers here are women, and they are all called "Jagalchi Aunts".
The first floor is an open fish market with over 300 seafood stores. The second floor is a restaurant area where diners can buy seafood in the seafood market and have it cooked by a restaurant, or simply order from the restaurant. The prices are about the same. On the other side of the second floor is a concentrated area for selling dried seafood such as dried fish, dried shrimp and dried kelp. The third floor is the staff canteen, mainly serving Korean set meals at low prices, and is also open to non-staff.
The Jagalchi Cultural Tourism Festival held every October is an annual event, and it is even more enjoyable to visit during the festival. The local Gyeongsang Province dialect here is very impressive.
