Before starting your journey in Gyeongju, it is best to visit the National Gyeongju Museum to get a general understanding of the Silla Dynasty and its treasures.
The National Gyeongju Museum consists of three permanent exhibition halls, namely the Archaeological Hall, the Art Hall, and the Gwanchulchi Hall, as well as a special exhibition hall. Here, nearly 3,000 cultural relics are collected and displayed, including the 29th National Treasure, the "Bell of King Seongdeok the Great". Particularly on the second floor of the Art Hall, which showcases Silla Buddhist art, you can admire the artistic masterpiece, the model of the "Nine-story Wooden Pagoda of Hwangnyongsa Temple", which expresses the Silla Dynasty's aspiration for unification.
