Hamarikyu Onshi Teien

The Hamarikyu Onshi Teien is the most representative daimyo garden of the Edo period, covering an area of approximately 250,000 square meters. It was established by Japanese nobles over 370 years ago and has undergone multiple constructions and renovations before taking on its current form.

The main attractions of the garden include the tide-in pond, the duck-hunting ground, the three-hundred-year-old pine tree and the tea house on the central island. The layout of the water features, small bridges, tea house architecture and  the plants is in perfect harmony. The winding paths meander through the garden, connecting all the parts and offering a constantly changing view. This fully demonstrates the art of Japanese garden construction and the aesthetic of East Asian culture.

There are many cherry trees planted in the garden. Every time the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the garden is a riot of color and full of vitality. Against the backdrop of the sea and the towering modern buildings, it presents a unique charm.
