Jōjakukō-ji Temple

Jōjakukō-ji Temple was built in the late 16th century and is located on the slopes of Mt. Ogura to the west of Kyoto. It is famous for its autumn red maple leaves. The multi-storey pagoda in the temple was built in the 17th century and has a very elaborate architectural style. From the pagoda, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Kyoto City.

Jōjakukō-ji Temple is not far from Tenryu-ji Temple and Nonomiya Shrine. It takes about 10 minutes to walk there from Mt. Arashiyama along the Tokai Nature Trail. You will need to climb a hill to get there.
