Shukkaien Garden

Shukkaien Garden was built in 1620 and was originally the villa estate of the feudal lord of Hiroshima. The landscape within the estate was modeled after the West Lake in Hangzhou, China, with its scenery condensed onto a relatively small plot of land, resembling a natural landscape painting. The garden is on a smaller scale, paying attention to the layers of the scenery. The plants are arranged in a staggered manner, freely planted. Among them, the stone lanterns and the hand-washing basins are unique ornaments in Japanese gardens.
