Mount Hakodate

Mount Hakodate is a peninsula at the southwestern end of Hakodate, with an altitude of 334 meters. There is an observation deck at the summit. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city, as well as the nearby harbor, ocean and mountains. The scenery changes throughout the four seasons, presenting a breathtaking beauty.

The most famous view is undoubtedly the night view of Hakodate from the summit. It was once ranked among the world's top three night views along with the Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong and the Naples Bay in Italy. The 30 minutes after sunset is the most beautiful time for the city's lights, but it also attracts the largest crowds.

You can reach the summit of Mount Hakodate by cable car, by car or on foot. The mountain path is well maintained and the climb is not difficult. It takes about an hour to reach the summit from the Mount Hakodate Information Center.
