Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine was built in the 8th century and is one of the most popular shrines in the Kyoto area. Inside the shrine, you can see all kinds of fox stone statues, as foxes are regarded as the messengers of the deity Inari.

The most famous feature here is the dense forest of vermilion torii gates behind the main shrine. Hundreds and thousands of vermilion torii gates form a path leading to the top of Inari Mountain, making it one of the most representative landscapes in Kyoto. Entering the torii gates, the weathered dark red torii and the bright vermilion ones are densely interwoven. Through the sunlight, they appear particularly spectacular and charming, offering a stunning visual experience.
