Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Kiyomizu-dera Temple was first built in 778 AD and is the oldest temple in Kyoto. It has been burned down and rebuilt several times. Most of the existing buildings were constructed in 1633. Since ancient times, it has been renowned as one of the few sacred places of Kannon in Japan.
The main hall of the temple is supported by 139 wooden pillars and stands suspended in the air, reaching a height of 13 meters. It is called the "Kiyomizu Stage". This wooden structure was built without a single iron nail, demonstrating the superb construction skills of that time and is a national treasure of Japan.

The temple is surrounded by green trees. In spring, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, making it one of the famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Kyoto. In autumn, the maple leaves are bright red, making it a popular place for viewing autumn leaves. Besides, the tea ceremony at Kiyomizu-dera Temple is the best in Kyoto.
